The painting “The Wrath of the Lord Sabaoth” is an abstract sacred composition inspired by the theological imagery of Psalm 17, one of the most profound biblical prayers for divine justice, refuge, and protection. At the center of the composition appears a Seraph – one of the highest orders of the celestial hierarchy. Rather than being rendered through literal representation, the Seraph is manifested as a radiant nucleus of light and energy, symbolizing the immediate presence of the Divine.
In front of the central figure are two additional angelic beings, symbolically represented as white birds. Their imagery evokes the biblical motif of heavenly guardianship and the protective wings under which the righteous find shelter. Acting as mediators between the celestial and earthly realms, these angelic forms embody guidance, vigilance, and spiritual intercession.
The composition is structured around a luminous central axis from which dynamic movements and rhythmic currents radiate outward. Interwoven planes of color and texture create the impression of a spiritual vortex, transforming the pictorial space into a symbolic vision of the heavenly realm rather than a depiction of physical reality. The work explores the concept of divine intervention as expressed in Psalm 17, where God is portrayed as protector, defender, and source of salvation.
