I create paintings that explore the relationship between nature, memory, colour, and emotion. Through expressive brushwork, layered textures, and light, I seek to transform everyday landscapes into personal visual experiences.
My paintings are created using traditional oil painting techniques, with particular attention to colour relationships, tonal balance, and the expressive qualities of the painted surface.

The painting Industrial Heritage of Kulmbach depicts the historic UNIMA malt factory (Untere Mälzerei) located near Kulmbach railway station in Upper Franconia, Bavaria, Germany. Executed directly from life, the work captures one of the city’s most recognizable industrial landmarks, whose characteristic malt-drying towers and brick industrial architecture have long formed part of the urban skyline. The complex represents an important chapter in the economic and technological history of Kulmbach, a city internationally known for its brewing tradition and malt production.

Artistic Series Statement
Pearls of Kulmbach® is an ongoing series of paintings devoted to the visual, atmospheric, and cultural identity of Kulmbach and its surrounding landscape in Upper Franconia. Rather than functioning as a conventional topographical record, the series approaches the city as a living space of memory, light, architecture, and perception.
Through oil painting, the artist transforms familiar places – historic streets, architectural landmarks, the Plassenburg, river landscapes, gardens, and surrounding countryside – into intimate visual encounters. Each painting is conceived as a “pearl”: an individual moment in which light, colour, atmosphere, and place converge to reveal a particular poetic character.
The series draws upon the tradition of European landscape painting while remaining rooted in a contemporary sensibility. Architectural structures are not treated merely as documentary motifs; they become carriers of historical continuity, while natural elements – water, sky, foliage and changing light – introduce a sense of transience and renewal. The resulting images exist between observation and interpretation, between the tangible reality of a place and its emotional resonance.
At the heart of Pearls of Kulmbach® is the idea that the identity of a city is not contained solely in its monuments or historical narratives, but also in fleeting visual experiences: a particular hour of sunlight, a reflection on water, the rhythm of a street, the silence of a landscape, or the unexpected harmony of architecture and nature.
The series therefore constitutes both a portrait of Kulmbach and a personal visual archive – an evolving meditation on place, memory, light and belonging.

What inspires your paintings?
My work is inspired by nature, changing light, memory, and the emotional atmosphere of places. Many paintings originate from direct observation and plein-air studies.
Which materials do you use?
I work primarily with oil paints on canvas, using both traditional brushwork and palette knife techniques to create texture and depth.
