I am pleased to announce that my painting Kulmbach Kommunbräu in Spring was selected by the Art Council of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine on 21 September 2026 for the All-Ukrainian Exhibition Project for the Day of the Artist.

Artist’s Day in Ukraine is a national professional holiday celebrated annually on the second Sunday of October. Established in 1998, it honours the contribution of artists to the development of Ukrainian culture.

The exhibition will be held from 9 to 25 October 2026 at the Central House of Artists of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Kyiv.

Selected works represent a broad range of contemporary fine and decorative arts and are chosen by the Art Council of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.

Kulmbach Kommunbräu in Spring
Oil on canvas, palette knife technique, 40 × 40 cm

The painting depicts a fragment of the historic cityscape of Kulmbach, Upper Franconia, Bavaria, Germany, illuminated by the soft morning light of early spring. The composition centres on a small peninsula formed by branches of the White Main River (Weißer Main) flowing through the historic centre of the town.

Executed with a palette knife, the work combines expressive landscape painting with elements of Post-Impressionist colourism. The composition is structured through the interplay of horizontal water surfaces and the rhythmic vertical forms of the trees. A dominant range of blues and blue-greens unifies the pictorial space, conveying the clarity and freshness of an early spring morning.
